Lacy was named for William David Lacy, who began selling lots near present-day Craven Avenue and Interstate 35 in the 1880s, while Lakeview took its name from the small spring-fed lakes nearby. Both communities grew alongside the Texas Electric Railway, an interurban line connecting Dallas and Waco.
Lacy and Lakeview eventually joined forces, officially establishing a shared city government in 1953 and electing Frank Mosley as their first mayor. The community continued to grow through the decades, and in 1998, it merged with Northcrest, allowing Lacy Lakeview to qualify for home rule status under Texas law.
Today, Lacy Lakeview is home to nearly 7,000 residents who enjoy the benefits of suburban living paired with easy access to everything Waco has to offer, from Baylor University to the Magnolia Market at the Silos, Cameron Park, and Lake Waco.
